What is a Certification?
Obtaining professional certification is like a stamp of approval. It signifies achievement and proves ongoing dedication to your career. My Open University (MoU) certification refers to the certification examination or to the full set of activities related to awarding and maintaining the credential. These activities include: eligibility, examination, recertification, disciplinary, governance and policies.

Certification Test
Certification test is typically an exam designed as a criterion-referenced testing that measures professional competence. This type of test may be aimed at measuring entry level professional skills, specialty skills within the profession, or advanced skills in the profession.
Who should become certified?
You can become certified if you are interested in furthering your career and becoming industry expert in specific HR Area, which will require certification to be recognized amongst your peers and employers.
Professional Certification
Professional Certification refers to a non-governmental MoU process for ensuring professional competency. In professional certification, MoU standards and requirements for a profession have been established to ensure that individuals awarded certification have met the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform at the pre-determined level in the profession.
In order to obtain professional certification, you need to:
• Be a graduate preferably in HR,
• Be a Member of MoU
• Have minimum two years of practical HR experience; and
• Qualify MoU program as basic HR functionality and knowledge
Is there a cost to certification?
Yes. Please check MoU contact. Cost may include shipping / postage charges of Certificate. This excludes for exam fee, if and where applicable.
Time for Completion
Once you have applied and admitted into MoU system, you have 4 months to write the exam.
Certification includes:
• 2 attempts at the exam / certification test
• Receiving assignment (s) / learning material
• Access to restricted content on MoU
Application process
MoU accepts applications for certification (and exams) in January and July or as announced from time to time; while award of certification will depend on your qualifying the pre-determined criteria.

Approved Position Codes
MoU recognizes following list as approved position codes. It you do not see your title on the lists, mark 999 “Other”; and you must also indicate two additional requirements:
- A declaration supporting documents that you fulfill MoU certification requirements; and
- A copy of your job description indicating at least 51% of your HR-related responsibilities; and two years of professional HR work experience
